the art of the cake smash
Before we start, let me just say... I love cake smash sessions. Each one is totally different, and I love LOVE LOVE them! Some parents are health conscious and make their cake out of all fruits and veggies with no sugar. Some parents get their cake professionally made with loads of colors and frosting! I've had cake smashes at home, cake smashes in the park, and some cake smashes by a waterfall. I've been covered by frosting while some kiddos don't like touching it at all. Some parents make ridiculously amazing props, while others like the more simplistic approach. Some have balloons, some kiddos are naked, but all are awesome. Why am I telling you this??? Because they are ALL UNIQUE and help tell the story of the family as well as the birthday itself. Perfection no matter what.

I have soooo many amazingly awesome cake smashes to share with you from this past spring, but this first one is high up on the list, for sure! I met this gorgeous family last fall when we did a family session together, and I immediately loved them. I mean, how could I not, we could talk Red Sox all day together! Gavin was just a baby and Madison had so much personality that she was amazing in front of the camera. This time was no different! Gavin was turning one and had the CUTEST outfit EVER! Madison is going to kindergarten this year, so we did a special shoot for her as well... and you can never go wrong with cowgirl boots! We met up at Horseshoe Park in Wake Forest and had an absolute cake-smashy blast. These kiddos rocked it, as usual, and these pictures quickly became favorites.
I can't wait to see the Paul Family again!!!
