about betsy and suliko
As a photographer, there are some events that make us go, HOLY MOLY I CAN'T WAIT TO WAKE UP AND GO TO WORK TODAY!!!!!! This wedding was one of them, hands down. I was contacted by Betsy's mother Joan about doing this super intimate wedding ceremony and I am soooo incredibly thankful!
Betsy and Suliko are super private and super fun people. They have known each other for over 6 years, as they both work for a local company here in Raleigh called SAS. They kept their relationship private for a long time, but together they are complete and total awesomeness. There was no formal engagement or engagement ring, but somehow they just both knew it was time.
about their wedding day
Betsy and Suliko ended up getting married in their backyard, which was right in the heart of Raleigh and is GORGEOUS!!!! It truly is a bungalow and it's perfect! The catch... they only moved in about a month or less before their wedding day!
Their wedding consisted of 20 members of their closest friends and family, including their friend Meredith, whom they work with, who specifically became ordained so she could marry these two best friends. Betsy wore a David's Bridal gown, which she spruced up with a ribbon sash tied around her waist, and all the flowers and boutonnieres were from Fallon's Flowers. The flower girl was Betsy's niece, who was also in charge of Olive, the bride and groom's puppy! The rings were presented by their nephews and the vows were so incredibly personal and uplifting. It was SUCH a beautiful ceremony!
The cakes, both chocolate and coconut made by Linda's Cakes in Raleigh, were on display and were to die for! Suliko's Mom, Inga, spent all day cooking up a delicious feast which was had around the farm table out back. It was DELICIOUS! I tried to take a back seat and let the family be together, but I was quickly told to come up to the table and I got to be a part of the family... just for a little bit! It was SOOOOO incredibly heartwarming, I wish I could find the right words to describe how I felt! It was a true love story that seemed like a fairytale, all the way down to the amazing family and friends, and I was just thrilled to be a part of it. I would LOVE more weddings like this one!!!
Congratulations to the newlyweds, your day was absolutely perfect in every way and I wish you nothing but happiness, laughter, and many more trips around the world and back!
