RALEIGH WEDDING PHOTOGRAPHER | MARKET HALL | KAYLIE AND DONOVAN

Here is the absolutely beautiful downtown winter wedding of Kaylie and Donovan at Market Hall!!! Winter events can definitely exist and be totally gorgeous and show stopping without getting completely muddled up in the holidays. And what an exquisite time for a wedding! On December 30th, 2019, just before the new year/decade, the vibes for this modern wedding were downtown vintage industrial. Surprisingly, the weather was lovely. We made most of their portraits outside before and after the ceremony, so there is a BEAUTIFUL variety of lighting in this wedding.

The groom got ready on the Market Hall side with his guys and Kaylie’s dad. Sadly, Donovan’s father passed away a long time ago, but he was there in memories.

The bride got ready upstairs at the Park View side. Her “maid of honor” was her brother! Super cute! I am completely loving this wave of “bridesmaids” and “groomsmen” not having to be a specific gender. It. Is. Fantastic. YAY FOR DIVERSE WEDDING PARTIES!!!!

Kaylie’s parents haven’t been together in years, but they were perfectly amiable for Kaylie and Donovan’s wedding day. They even shared a dance at the reception!

Kaylie is Jewish, so you’ll see that there were a few Jewish traditions included in the wedding ceremony and reception. The bride and groom signed the ketubah before the main ceremony and they got married under a chuppah. Kaylie’s Uncle Kent was the officiant, which was a special feature for their day. They also smashed the glass and danced the hora.

Speaking of the hora, this couple’s wedding reception was SO. FUN. There was a lot of dancing. So. Much. Dancing. (Hats off to Bunn DJ Company). The cake cutting was unannounced and very private. The cake itself was actually made by Kaylie’s mom’s chemo nurse! Talents of family and friends really shine on special days and this was no exception. Then, at the end of the night, there was a sparkler sendoff and the bride and groom exited their wedding reception in a rickshaw! What a creative and romantic finale to the day!
